I have just encountered what I believe to be the most perfectly designed professional torture device ever to be disguised as a training course: To share the pain: 1. The course is entirely online, its got 711 slides. 2. There is a MINIMUM time spent of 10 hours. You cannot physically take the final exam to get the certification until you have logged 10 hours. 3. There is a MAXIMUM time spent per day of 7 hours. The system kicks you out at that time. 4. EVERY SLIDE HAS A TIMER. You cannot physically move to the next slide until the time has expired. Some of them are a minute and a half, for a slide with three lines of text. My favorite was about a ladder and how to use it. 5. The system times out if you walk away for 15 minutes. 6. There is a quiz every fifty or so slides (each section) - where you need 70% to pass. Some of them are very simple and you could have guessed them anyway but..... 7. The true kicker: SOME OF THE QUIZ QUESTIONS DIRECTLY REFERENCE THINGS IN THE CASE STUDIES IN THE PREVIOUS SLIDES.... That probably doesnt sound awful....except that the only way Ive found to maintain sanity is to skip through as best you can...but that means you almost certainly dont pay attention to the case studies...so you then have to go back since there is no other way to get that answer.... Secondly, you cant give the damn thing your full attention because every thirty seconds you have to sit there for another thirty seconds waiting for it to let you go to the next slide. This thing is honestly and quite literally the worst training tool I have ever seen implemented.
