I have just received this update from Litu Minj and activist on the spot where 14 workers were kiIIed in a coal dump collapse Its a very pathetic story as most of those killed were dispIaced dispossed and uncompensated Adivasis who once owned that land PIease share this far and wide THE DOWN AND TRODON DISPLACEMENT HAS BEEN UNDERGROUND IN MAHANADI COAL FIELD LTD. In the state of Odisha, district of Sundergarh, Hemgir block many families has been displaced because of Kulda and Basundhara coal mines. But till now nothing compensation has been provided to all the displaced family. So for the Gopalpur and GarjanBahal mining area in Gopalpur, GarjanBahal, Kulda, Tupurunga, Siarmal, Bankibahal for the land acquisition 1993 in 20th march a notice has been issued. Before this in the year of 1987, it was prevented to land sale and purchase. For this those the displacement family, who has not been provided resettlement & rehabilitation, recruitment, and compensation has been went to High court. The MCL has gone to Supreme Court against the statement of High Court. The Supreme Court has Order to perform a claim commission and provide compensation and Resettlement to the displacement till July of 2013. After than in 2010 a Claim Commission has been made by the leadership of High court ex-Justice A.K. Parichha. The commission has started Survey in the same year and it was finished in March’2011. After then the villagers were provided table chart about employment recruitment, Compensation and resettlement. But the villager has been objected that many false are there in this list. Mainly in Tupurunga and Siarmal village 692 and 116 has been eliminated from survey causes a disturbance in this matter. In claim commission, it has been reported that these house are constructed after September ’2010, so it has been eliminated in survey. On the other hand the villagers are saying when the survey started nothing any information was given to the villagers in legally. So the villagers has made house for their necessary. Now the problem has been increased because of eliminated by survey. After the formation of claim commission in Gopalpur village the survey has been made. In this way 2 and half year passed though nothing any compensation has provided to the displaced people. As nothing any negotiation has been made within the villagers for any compensation and R&R package. Then the eliminated Siarmal village out of 106 houses, 50house will be included in the survey of claim commission. The villagers are in there own statement causes to returning the claim commission before a few days. Like this the villagers of GarjanBahal are doing continuous struggle so the the secretary of claim commission Lingaraj Khodanga assured that within 8days the compensation will be provided to the displaced. But with in a time period nothing any compensation has provided if within a stipulated period nothing will be provided the disputed will increase day by day. About Incident In kulda mines of MCL overburden dumping yard has been misshapen and 11people has been died, but now also many people are in under the soil is in doubt. the incident happened on 10th August’13 after 3rd days the administration has been started to find out the lost people by crane, poclain and dozer. But the people are demanding for the compensation and finding out their house people. The affected people have demanded to take action against the mining authority. There was a sarna worship place, where the accident happened. The villagers were demanded to stop to destroy the place, but the company did not listen. There is well and nearby that a river called Sonajore. The displace villagers of Bolinga and the driver and Khalasi of outside has gone to take bath. A sudden blast was made by the burning dumping yard. Till now the 11people death body of village Balinga has been rescued. But it is in doubt the death of 35people, out of which must of them are driver/Khalasi or the villagers. While we talked with Abhi Lohar of village-Balinga aged about-60years said that nothing compensation and R&R has been provided to them so where they will go. The villagers in wait that their mothers, brothers will be find out by crane. The finding is continuous and only clothe, one part hand, leg or head is available. The finding work is in continuing. The villagers are saying that who will help us, the company took everything land, livelihood and nothing is provided to us, so where shall we go. For detail contact to Babuli Parida-09439733525.
