This is a local radio source that acts as a conduit to the internet. 2. 3G/4G This is a global access method that uses your phone SIM to connect to the internet via the phone network. It will normally be much more expensive than WiFi. If you buy a SIM you need to ask what the download costs are and how much data you are permitted. If you go over the data limit, you will be charged extra. To see how much you have downladed so far go to Settings select Mobile and scroll down to Mobile Data Usage iPhone Connecting via 3G/4G is automatic. If your phone can make calls, you will connect whenever there is a tower in range. You will see on the top of your Home Screen either 3G or 4G if you are connected. Connecting via WiFi is easy but not automatic outside of the home network. From the Home screen select Settings, then select WiFi. After a moment the phone will look for local networks and displays them as it finds them. The hotel or restaurant or whatever you want to connect to will provide you (sometimes for a fee) with the password. The WiFi name is usually obvious. e.g. Coffee Club Wifi. Some public places, libraries, museums have free WiFi and they dont always need a password. Once you have connected, look at the top left of the Home Screen and if you are connected to the wifi there will be a little fan shaped radio signal at the top left. If it says 3G or 4G then you are not connected via WiFi. To make a video call. Video phone calls can be made to anyone in the world who has an iPhone. 1. Ensure you are connected to WiFi. 2. The plus sign (+) replaces, in every country, the international access number, In Australia that is 0011 and in Europe and elsewhere 00. Kindle Your Kindle has no 3G/4G capability so you must connect to a WiFi source. To connect your Kindle to the internet so you can download a new book. From the Home screen, press the Menu button. Select Settings, and then select view next to Wi-Fi Settings. In the list of detected networks, choose a network to connect to it. General points. 1.
