I have no real beef with Calvinism or Calvinists. A *few* of my nonCalvinist friends, believe it or not, will sometimes be angry I am not *more* strongly outspoken against it, even if to some of my Calvinist friends (*some* of them!) I appear to be ANTI-Calvinism. Im NOT anti-Calvinism! And, what tends to bother me is not so much their emphasis on unconditional election, though I do not hold to that doctrine. That doctrine is RELATED to *one* of my issues with Calvinism: the matter of security and assurance. There are *two* points of Calvinism where my antennae go off when I hear them talk, or read their words or posts: when they start to talk about sanctification, and when they talk about perseverance of the saints. I wont go into any detail on the first. But...on the latter, the matter of perseverance... Philippians 1:6, for instance, was intended to give the believer ASSURANCE. It was NOT intended to TAKE AWAY assurance! But with the Calvinist, this verse is often TURNED AROUND to SAY, If yer REALLY saved, youll do x, y, and z! and this UNDERMINES the very assurance a believer NEEDS to persevere in holiness!!! Anyway, I meant to be brief in my comments preceding the posting of a short video yall might be interested in watching. It is just a bit over five minutes long, and it is worth the watch!
