I have no respect for anyone who uses the word abeed which means slaves in arabic or kallu in urdu to describe blacks. Thats like using the N word. Dont give me the lame excuse that we are all abeed of Allah. You dont call anyone thats not black abeed. When Abu Dharr (ra) slipped and said about Bilal (ra) son of a black woman, there was nothing untrue about that statement. But its the context and the way it made Bilal (ra) feel that caused the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wa salam) to say to Abu Dharr (ra) that he had a share of jahiliyya (ie. pre islamic ignorance) inside of him. Abu Dharr (ra) in his sincere repentance narrates that incident himself and how he placed his face in the dirt so that Bilal (ra) could step on it (which of course he didnt). Please recognize how offensive that language is and seek forgiveness from Allah and the people youve hurt with it. Sheikh Omar Suleiman
