I have not been present lately...least not on this page or in my business. I needed to take a much needed break. A lot has happened in the last 6 months and I have learned a lot... 1. Marriage is hard. Love is a choice. And you have to give selflessly to your spouse. It is hard, but it is worth it. I need to be present with him and give him undivided attention just like my kids do. 2. Parenting is even harder. This momma was not blessed with laid back children...neither one of them. It is exhausting sometimes. 3. Grief is shown in all different ways. We lost a major member of our family unit when my father in law passed last April. And we are still feeling the effects of it. Sometimes it shows as anger, sometimes it shows as incredible sadness, sometimes it shows as questioning things you hadnt questioned before. One thing is for sure...you cant bury it. All of us are dealing with it...my kids, my husband, and myself. 4. You dont have to keep it all together...it is good to show some crazy. I used to try to not let Jeff or the boys see me fall apart...but I have learned that they need to see me lose it every now and then. They need to know that momma can NOT do it all, that I need help just like everyone else. 5. As an entrepreneur...I decide...I decide who I want to work with, when I want to work, and what is non negotiable. That is an incredible power to have and it is time that I embrace it and really design the life I want. Not just the one I want in the future...the one I want now...with my core desired feelings being fulfilled. 6. I am hardest on me. I critique everything I do as a mom, as a wife, as a business owner and that kind of pressure can be crippling. I need to let that go. So the past week I have focused on showing grace...to my kids, to my husband, to myself. To forgive, to change what needs to change, and to be happy with where I am now, with who I am now.
