I have not been reluctant to disagree with Speaker Boehner when he is wrong, so I feel obligated to point out when he is right. Our nation cannot return to the big spending earmark programs promoted by Harry Reid and exploited by former sessions of Congress. Key quote for those without a subscription: Congressional cries to restore earmarks are mounting, and a new favorite argument is that the spenders need the pork authority to properly exercise their Constitutional power of the purse. But if you look at whats happening inside Congress, the opposite is true: The earmark ban is producing more spending accountability and oversight.
