I have not posted on the Zimmerman trial. As with so much on Facebook, no one is persuaded and everyone gets heated. I will say that the event itself says something about the loss of hospitality in our society and the mutual suspicion with which we automatically view those we designate as "outsiders." One of the most thoughtful points I have seen raised in this discussion was the simple question I read in an editorial: How might things have turned out differently if George Zimmerman had pulled his car up alongside Trayvon Martin and asked "Would you like a ride home?"
