I have not watched Maleficent . And to fully appreciate a song out of a film soundtrack, one usually needs to watch the movie first to feel it’s underlying emotive message. But all I had to take was 1 listen to find out how Lana would sound in such a thematic setting. Hooked I was. To say it was hypnotic, is sacrilege to the true powers of this song. Be warned though, some of the side effects include : altered perception of time, dizziness and nausea. As the song builds, it drips you away, to an endless maze where you’re all alone by yourself, and have no exit- forever. Lana del Rey’s pervading voice, and an organic haunting score – is toxic ,and will leech off you each and every listen, till all you are left with nothing but your bare bones.
