I have often walked down this street before .. 8 Stewart Lane ... my family stayed here in a rented room sharing community bath n toilet n kitchen ... was here growing from 5 to 8 years old ... back alley was my 5 minute walk to Hutchings School .... de first house was a bakery famous for tortoise bread (mi koo) and other festive breads .. mine was de fourth house (see where red bike is parked in front).. landladies made a living from selling chinese sore throat medical powder in vials .. you dip a small straw into the powder .. then mouth opened ajar de straw is inserted into the back of your throat .. someone then blows air with a high energy puff .. and the powder is hence sprayed all over your throat offering medicinal relief .... quaint indeed ... Came back this morning to hv breakfast and nostalgia ... I have often walked down this street before ...
