I have posted before about how I got out of the Vonage monthly - TopicsExpress

I have posted before about how I got out of the Vonage monthly raping of $50 by switching to the magicJack Plus. Ive been using it for two (maybe 3) years now at home and its just pretty much great. $60 for the unit, you plug it into your AC outlet and your router. Connect any phone system and it includes a YEAR of service (extra YEARS are $35. Yes PER YEAR. Not per month). No other hidden fees or taxes bullshit like the phone company or the aforementioned rapists. And since its a VoIP USB thingy, you can take it with you and make/receive calls anywhere in the world using either another phone, or just your notebook PC (mic/speakers). Well, yesterday I got around to installing their free Android app on my Galaxy S4, my Galaxy Tab 10.1 and even Heathers crappy ZTE phone. This is awesome! If someone calls my home number it rings all these devices as well as the home phone (if the app is running)! So if Im expecting a call for example, Im no longer tethered to my home line. AND you can make calls on it using the same VoIP network (so no cell carrier charges, and for example somewhere that may not have cell coverage, but has internet WiFi). Also its free calls to any other MagicJack number anywhere in the world. It has a tab there that shows ALL contacts or just those that have MJ (as you see in the picture), however I dont see anyone else using it. Is that true? Of ALL my friends/family, not a single other person uses this by now? Or is there a bug in their app thats not showing people properly. They used to have a bad reputation for crappy customer service, but Ive used it a few times in the past month for various questions, and while its a live chat, they have done very well in answering me. ALso they have redesigned their previously crap-tastic website and its way mo betta. I cant stress enough how you should get one. If for no other reason than to have a backup phone in case the cell towers ever go down. While its not a POTS line (i.e. the old phone system for you newbs), its at least a cheap redundant one. I use it all the time as my bat phone if you will. I dont give out the number to really anyone except family, VERY close friends, and to make calls for like take-out, doctors, etc. This way if that phone rings, I know its important and needs to be answered. I also have a standard DECT 5-phone system, so its nice to have access to a phone in any room of the house (and hear the ring too) since I dont generally carry my cell with me all over the house -- I just leave it on the charger. Think of it as a $3/mo insurance policy in case shit.
