I have received many, many emails from retirees that was not aware we meet each month for lunch and good fellowship in Chattanooga. They have requested the location and address, so I am reposting my monthly letter in hopes many will see it and come join us.. Chattanooga, BellSouth and AT&T Retirees...What a great October, the weather has been perfect. I could enjoy these temperatures all year. Dont anyone ever tell me we are not blessed from above. For those who could not attend our last luncheon, let me just say it was great. We had a large crowd (52+) and some friends I have not seen since I retired. Joe Morton was there and said he enjoyed every minute, Joe worked for W.E. Sure glad to see these new friends, does not matter where you worked at the Phone Co. we are all family and have many memories to share with each other. Come share your memories with us October 24th and enjoy a fabulous lunch. Joyce Martin won the door prize and it was a big one, you could tell she was the winner by the smile on her face. If I had won Linda would have had a big smile on her face, but maybe next time. We still need your old items to put on our yard sell table. The tickets we sell for a chance on these items helps pay the cost of our luncheon items, so any thing you can bring will be appreciated. I know everyone is having convulsions over the AT&T insurance changes that are taking place. Everyones premium is increasing it seems, thanks to AT&T. In 1876 Alexander Graham Bell patened the telephone and lit the fuse that started the telephone industry. Over the many years telephone employees have kept that fuse lit, we did not let it go out. AT&T did not just appear out of nowhere it took many years and a lot of faithful hard working men and women to build that company. Everyone knows that the big wheel at the top does not turn unless the little wheels at the bottom turn it. Look inside a clock or a company to see what I mean. In appreciation for our dedication and many years of work in building the company they are going to let us pay our own insurance. We should all thank the company that we built for their generosity and appreciation. In fact, I will give my thanks now... Thank You AT&T... Speaking of insurance John Neblett will be at our next luncheon on October 24th and try to clear up the problems we have concerning insurance and to answer any questions you may have. John has been in several meetings with AT&T and knows much more than we do about this insurance mess. If possible be at our next luncheon, you dont want to miss what John has to say. On to something a little lighter now. I heard a great blond joke the other day, thought you might like. Hope our blonds dont get mad at me. I use to be a blond myself before getting married, but after my marriage it turned gray (oops), so I am still dumb but not blond..anyway a blond joke.... A blond was driving her car down a country road when she saw another blond in a rowboat in the middle of a field. The blond in the boat was rowing furiously but, of course, going nowhere. The first blond stopped her car and went to the edge of the field, yelling, Its because of women like you that people tell blond jokes. Youre making the rest of us look bad. And if I could swim, Id come out there and kick your behind. Not much more to say except try to be at our next luncheon for some fantastic food and deserts and let John try to answer some of your questions. If you have someone you would like to bring to lunch, bring them. Visitors are welcome. I dont know of any new deaths or sickness that have occurred this past month. If anyone knows of a death or sickness let me know and I will put it in the letter. I will stop now but want to leave you with something to always remember.. People dont care how much you know unless they know how much you care. Remember, October 24th Is Our Luncheon..JOHN NEBLETT DAY...Hope You Win The Door Prize Bring a Visitor they are always Welcome EVERYONE IS INVITED WHETHER SUPERVISION OR OTHERWISE. PS..If you need directions on how to find our location call 344-8282 or 886-3034 AT&T Work Center on Pinnacle Lane, between the Chickamauga Dam and DuPont
