I have recently run into the topic of life and if love is the peak of it with many people. I think our culture perpetuates the need for validation in other people, especially to be validated by the one we love. This poem is geared towards women, but I think it holds true overall no matter gender or preference. You have a place in the world- you make it. There isnt a lover who is your place holder, there isnt an opinion or validation that proves you have an important spot in the world. You determine your importance, you build your life and your experience. Most of us want somebody to love, but we dont need somebody to be a somebody.
