I have said before that we want people to share Joe Murrays story so that it can inspire faith and provide hope for those that may be in need. We want people to believe that miracles do happen, and we are living proof of that! So, when Regency Hospital where Joe spent nearly two months during his recovery contacted my mom to ask for permission to share his story in their calendar, she of course responded YES! He is continuing to heal all the time, and as I have said before we continue to tell him all the time about the support, encouragement, thoughts, and prayers we received from everyone during this time. He is truly our walking miracle and proof that when you have faith in the Lord, anything is possible! Please feel free to share and maybe this can reach someone who is need of a little hope:) Here is the story written by the staff at Regency East Cleveland which will be published in their calendar: Back on Track Joseph Murray. Regency Cleveland Hospital East #564 . Cleveland, OH On November 20, 2013, Joseph Murray’s car collided with a train. Murray was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center and treated for a cervical fracture (internal decapitation), fractured ribs and femur, a ruptured bladder and traumatic brain injury (TBI). One month later, he arrived at Regency Cleveland East to a team who had just completed TBI training. Krista McFadden, Chief Nursing Officer, was confident her team could put Murray’s recovery back on track. Joe arrived with a floating halo to stabilize his neck. Staff watched videos specific to this extraordinary brace to use it properly. He needed a sitter at all times and the nurses were happy to be there. The Regency care team embraced Joe and his family. A nurse made the trip to see the neurological doctors in Toledo when his halo and the tracheostomy were removed. “Joe called a nurse by name. Everyone in his room was crying with joy,” explains McFadden. Less than three months after his accident, Joe was headed to an acute rehab facility to regain his ability to complete daily tasks. Joe’s mother explains, “He wasn’t supposed to live; he is nothing short of a miracle.” As for the staff at Regency Cleveland East, they just can’t stop smiling.
