I have seen all the works which have been done under the sun, and behold, all is vanity and striving after wind. Ecc 1:14 You drug yourself out of bed this morning to begin the grind, join the rat race or whatever other cliche you wish to use. We do it because were told thats what is expected of us. Now to be sure - God does say if a man does not work he should not eat - so there is an expectation for us to work. The question is what are you working for? Are you working for a pay-check? Are you working to obtain the things you desire most in life? Are you working to provide your children with the best in life - possibly things you were denied in your childhood? Are you working for recognition and promotion? Are you working to impress your neighbors? The truth is - many of us got out of bed this morning - for many of those reasons. Solomon was noted as the wisest man who lived outside of Jesus. He said if youre working for any of the above reasons - good luck with that - youre chasing the wind. Youre never going to arrive where you hope to arrive. His point is - when we get out of bed in the morning - if our purpose for living doesnt include Jesus - were just chasing the wind? Why did you get up this morning?
