I have seen many post about West Virginia State Tax Dept. cracking down on people operating a photography business using Facebook to advertise without having an actual business license. Just to be clear, I have a business license and I pay taxes on all the money I make. I do not make a load of money doing photography but it is something I love to do and I enjoy doing something for others that I know they will cherish for a long time. No, my session prices are not hundreds of dollars but that doesnt mean you are getting less. I do my very best at every session I shoot. I make each one original and personalized. When I set my prices, I kept in mind how much I could afford to pay. I dont expect to get rich taking pictures, I just want to get better. I really enjoy it. So anyway for the record, I am a legal, tax paying photographer. Actually today, Oct. 14th marks my 1 year anniversary of my business :-)
