I have seen some neighbors pouring grass clippings, leaves, trash into the curb storm drains. Last time I checked, some time ago...could be more, now, this is considered a misdemeanor with a $500.00 fine. Garbage bags are cheap and it takes little more effort to pick up the trash; or, just mulch it back into the yard, if you have a mulching mower. During the recent, last rain, the Nonconnah Creek flood control drain ditch, that runs under Helene at Vera Cruz reached the top with deep and swift water; threatening to flood my neighbors back yard. It is extremely important to all the neighborhood and the area that these ditches are open and free-running. It is also costly to the tax-payers to open and remove debris from these ditches. In the future, I will be reporting when I see people disposing trash into the storm drains, and I ask that all neighbors do like-wise.
