I have sent an email to ask for the Palestinian flag to be flown - TopicsExpress

I have sent an email to ask for the Palestinian flag to be flown over Lancaster and Morecambe Town Halls. There is a meeting at Morecambe Town Hall to discuss this on 29 July, we hope that people can attend at 9.00 on Tuesday. Please can people send an email request. [email protected] Dear Mr Cullinan, I am contacting you to request that you follow Prestons excellent example and display the Palestinian flag on Lancaster and Morecambe Town Halls. As a Christian I feel closely connected to all Muslims and Jews, we are all people of the book and share a common belief about the essential importance of dignity, mercy and compassion towards all humans regardless of creed, race or social position. Preston is a wonderful city where people are equally valued and work together with mutual respect, like Morecambe and Lancaster citizens look to their leaders and public buildings to reflect an inclusive and compassionate ethos. All people of conscience are horrified by the slaughter of civilians in Gaza, I have been moved by seeing my Jewish brothers and sisters standing with people of all faiths and none to support the people of Gaza. The flying of the Palestinian flag in Preston was a symbol of hope and faith in the ability of people to live together in peace. It meant so much to so many of us and it would mean even more to see this wonderful gesture taken up by our councils in Morecambe and Lancaster. History will judge the bombing of Gaza but I would love to see that off-set by a gesture of hope for better times displayed by our Councils across the country also being recorded. We are all world citizens and I urge you to reflect that by making an historic, humanitarian gesture on behalf of the people you represent. Best wishes
