I have some information from a reliable source. The announcement - TopicsExpress

I have some information from a reliable source. The announcement has still not been made, so please understand that the details below may not be 100% correct and you should check new information as it is made public after the Presidents announcement. But here s what Ive heard. People who will benefit from the Presidents announcement will be: 1. Those who (a) have been present in the US for at least five years, (b) been present in the US since at least January 1, 2010, (c) are present on the day of the announcement (today), (d) pass a criminal background check (sorry, no details yet), (e) prove that they have been paying their taxes, AND (f) are a parent of a US citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident on the date of the announcement, and 2. Those who (a) arrived before age 16, (b) have been present since at least January 1, 2010, (c) pass a criminal background check, (d) prove that they have been paying their taxes, and (e) are present in the US on the date of the announcement. Note: this differs from DACA in that there is no upper age limit and no education requirement. People in these two groups would be able to get employment authorization, a social security card and a drivers license. It will NOT lead directly to permanent residence or citizenship. The program would be temporary, so those benefitting would need to be looking for another way to become a permanent resident. ALSO!! ... Rumor has it that the I-601A program will be expanded to families of permanent residents. LEAD TIME The rumor is that applications will be accepted starting in early 2015. That might not mean January 1.
