I have some serious news to share concerning Pam. About three weeks ago her mammogram showed a 1.5 cm (1/2) mass on the upper left quadrant of her right breast. The time since then has been a whirlwind of tests and doctors visits. A biopsy confirmed Grade 1 Invasive Ductile Carcinoma (breast cancer). IDC is the most common form of breast cancer. Grade 1 is the slowest growing and least differentiated form, so thats one piece of good news. All the lab tests except one indicate there is a good chance of a positive outcome. The one we are concerned about is invasiveness and it came back high. As a result Pam is having a lumpectomy and sentinel lymph node biopsies this morning. She is current having marker injection for the lymph node biopsy and a needle localization to pin point the location of the tumor for removal. Her surgery is at 9:30. Afterwards, she will undergo 4-6 weeks of daily radiation treatment. If they dont get it all, they may have to repeat the surgery. So, after spending the last year fighting to recover from the motorcycle accident, we find ourselves in another more serious battle. It never ends. Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated.
