I have spent half the night in tears, he was my childhood - TopicsExpress

I have spent half the night in tears, he was my childhood bestfriend.... Now he sings in Gods Choir in Heaven I first met Brian Pjay Chengwa in 1993.... I had the privilege to spend my childhood among the affluent of Lusaka. We lived in Ingwe Road just near woodlands Pick and Pay. Our neighbours included Mr Mubanga director Zambia state insurance, Judge Peter Chitengi of supreme court,Mr Sumbukeni Permanent secretary works and supply, Mr Mark Brown Second Secretary at the American Embassy, Mr Sichinga (brother to Bashi Nono, Mr Goerge Chisakuta Standard Chartered Bank and just behind in Mtende road the house facing St Marys was the Chipimo family (house family to Elias Chipimo Jr). Our Immediate neighbour was Mr Bwalya Chiti who at that time was a mere government lawyer. Mr Chiti is my friend on facebook and am sure he will read this. He is Zambias current ambassador to Germany. Apparently Mr Chiti had had some problems in the government and his house was constantly visited by police and OP guys. My father was working in London on a government mission at the Time, and Mr Chiti was like our father. Mr Chiti brought nice shoes for me and my brother for christmas. Then he moved out of the house and went on to start the first Cellphone company in Zambia (Telecel now mtn) and made a fortune selling voca cards. After Mr Chiti moved out, the house was vacant for almost a year. Then one day as I and my brother sat ku road watching cars, this dirty truck written ZCBC rolled over and asked nipesa pa number 11? My brother pointed to to the left apo ka next he said and it pulled over. There was in the truck a tall man, Mr Chengwa father to Pjay, his pregnant wife and Many kids in the track. I remember Pjays brothers, there was Muna, Sam, Borda (who became a thief and was on anti-robbery wanted list) and junior with wrotten teeth who loved music. Mr Chengwa had just been promoted to General Manager of ZCBC mwaiseni stores and hence moved into the hood from the komboni. His family was unlike the quiet hood of woodlands. He had 11 kids and it was a noisy family so much that after just a week we all knew them. Off course it was relief for my brother and I who were often the locked up Mwana Mayadi.. There was nothing to show that Brian would rise to stardom and be a great musician. Brian loved soccer so much (his Icon was Kalusha Bwalya) and soon was our team captain in the road. Our team comprised Temweka Sichinga son to Bashi Nono Bob Sichinga, now late ( Temweka also died in a car accident). There was me, my brother, Lusako sichinga, malama, David just to remember a few. Brians young brother Junior the guy with the wroten teeth was the one who loved music, he would often drum on empty tins and was really good. Brian was schooled by his kid brother to love music. Anyway there isnt much to write about, Iam sort of stuck on what to eulogize about my great friend PJay. Last time I saw him was mufili limba during his performance at the Bridge in chilenje. I wanted to go over and chat with him but he was working..and so I just said will talk when we meet next time..little did I know there is no next time...didnt know that the last I would see of him. Coincidentally He was signing Nikamisaya. #tears# This has left me thinking, we wont go through this thing called life twice, its just once. Do the best you can today, live your life to the full, we will only walk this life once.. There is no room for regret, no room to feel sorry for yourself, be the best that you can be, push yourself to the limits, be the best you can be. Above all have undying faith, we never know what happens tomorrow, tomorrow is never even assured.. So what can I say about my great friend? All I will say is Leka Chabe nikondwele Lelo, Leka Chabe nisangalele lelo, napali mailo siniziba, musakalile nikamisaya... We munandi you said musakalile but Ive failed to hold my tear, Ive failed to write anything sensible, tears are just rolling down my cheeks as I write this lying on my bed, am broken, am so torn to the core, oh my friend why, go well go well #Edgar_Lungu_tears_and_voice# go well my friend... Pishamo Pen..............#when_am_gone#
