I have spent some considerable time in this beautiful country and I have noticed that I am picking up some of the locals characteristics. I know, for example, that if you show a Thai how to brush their teeth they will consider themselves a dentist. And so it is that after one plate of sushi I now consider myself an expert in the field. Fortunately for all of you I also dragged along a few real experts to get their views on Musashi Contemporary Sushi. They are located half way down Nimmanheimean soi 13 (next to Why Not?) - 18.7964946,98.9680409. The restaurant is kind of funky but theyve not really invested too much in the style leaving plenty of room for a little substance. That said, its clean, modern and roomy. The menu contains traditional and (as their name would suggest) contemporary sushi dishes and there is a very good variety. Between the 5 of us we ordered a real medley which included 5 and 8 piece sets which cost around the $b200 mark. The names included medlada and dragon which may mean mean something to some but not I. I opened with a starter of octopus balls (were back to fish genitals again) which were mixed with cucumber and orange and while a tad sweet they were real melt in the mouth stuff. My 5 piece set of medlada was a really good mixture of crunchy salad vegetables and fresh fish all wrapped in seaweed and even my pathetic pallet could sense that something special was going on here. The others agreed too (phew) and in a subsequent chat with Jonathan (an award winning chef) he revealed to me that this was now his go-to sushi restaurant. So, there you have it, praise indeed for some really great food at perfectly acceptable (if not a little cheap) prices. 9/10.
