I have struggled over posting this on Facebook but in our culture this seems to be the quickest way to spread some news. Im doing it because so many of you have asked for more details and I appreciate your love and concern. Today is Christmas Eve and Ive been asked what I want for Christmas. And I have replied that I dont want or need anything. But then I realized I do want something and I need it more than ever before. I want and need your prayers. Lowell has taken a new job in Charlotte, North Carolina and has already been working there and living in temporary housing for three weeks. I have been on two house shopping trips while still maintaining our condo in Nashville. Also, during the same time frame, I have been approved for a procedure to hopefully improve my quality of life with Parkinsons Disease. I will be having a series of procedures/surgeries on February 9, 17, and 25 and March 5. I will have Deep Brain Stimulation where wires and electrodes will be tunneled into my brain and connected to a pacemaker like device just below my collar bone. And yes I will have to shave my head! Ive grown my hair out long enough to donate to Locks of Love or Pantenes free wig program and I am happy about that part. The DBS will be done at Vanderbilt University Hospital and I am very confident in my team. There is a ton of information online if you want to know more. Pray for peace of mind for our family. Pray for us to handle the transition/move to Charlotte while Im recovering. Pray for Lowell and I as we are separated until March. Pray for me as I move farther away from our grown kids who I love so much and my mother and brother just months after my Dads passing. Pray the surgeries are successful and give me some relief from the rigors of PD and reduce the over 25 pills a day I take. Many of you are amazing people of faith who have faced much more difficult situations and I thank you for your example of courage and grace. I ask you all to join together and pray. Because its all I want for Christmas.
