I have the utmost respect for Magic Johnson and Kobe Bryant. One - TopicsExpress

I have the utmost respect for Magic Johnson and Kobe Bryant. One is a Hall of Famer and the latter a lock to be enshrined amongst the greatest to ever play the game. Both are entitled to their opinion regarding Laker ownership and management. IF I was the owner I would tell Kobe to sit down and let me run things. As much as I love Kobes game, he just collected a HUGE salary this season for a mere 6 games. And he received an nice contractual extension by the organization for two more seasons. Most outside the Lakers organization criticized the extension by saying it would hamstring the team financially to whom some perceive as a great but aging player. Loyalty is a two way street Kobe. Though I am not fond of Jim Buss I think he deserves a degree of patience considered the immense shoes he has had to fill. In my biased opinion there was no greater owner in sports than the late Dr. Jerry Buss. It can be hard trying to carve out your own identity when you are constantly compared to your father. Having said that I think Jim should listen to those who have more experience in areas he does not. As for Magic I think he has been a bit hypercritical of the Lakers and might be a bit sour that he doesnt own a good percentage of the team. But he wants the Lakers to win and thats largely positive. But this fascination with Phil Jackson has to STOP in my opinion. Yes hes a very good coach who has won 11 NBA titles. Not trying to diss his accomplishments but Phil has had MJ, Scottie, Rodman, Shaq and Kobe. Thats five of the best players to EVER play this game. I have said it before but the real architect behind the Lakers and one who was undermined by Phil from my perspective was/is The Logo: Jerry West. Jerry West has been integral to the organization for decades as a player and GM savant. Kupchak has nothing on Jerry West. I didnt meant to slight Mitch. Its that no one has an eye for talent like Jerry West. I understand Lakers fans are impatient and spoiled. I kinda hate that about our fans. But in fairness tickets to watch the Lakers at Staples Center arent cheap. The fans have the right to want a better product worth watching after putting down hard earned cash. If Jim Buss cannot do the job that has been entrusted to him he should step aside and allow Jeanie to take a crack at it. IF I am the only die hard Lakers fan who is not inebriated off the greatness of Phil Jackson so be it. I have no problem being the minority in this situation. Its not like I dont have practice ;) Peace.
