I have to say, I am enjoying the hell out of this new synthesizer. They have come a long way. I remember when the DX-7 turned the tide from analog to digital synths, and confess I was an analog holdout for a long time, but goddamn, the things this thing can do. I wish I hadnt let my keyboard skills atrophy for twenty years, its frustrating the hell out of me. If Id had this thing when I was 19. . . Oh well. The built in drum machine and 8 track recorder are both tools I yearned for back in my early keyboard days (when I was 17 I would have killed for a Tascam 4 track). I dont have much experience with arranging, but am playing with it and will get it down. Ive always wanted to learn arrangement. Its trickier than I thought, which is exciting: a new challenge! It will probably be at least three months before I produce a piece worth releasing into the wild, maybe six; between retraining my fingers to move right, relearning all the scales, and regaining theory that may be optimistic. Still, its worth it. I havent made music in years, and it feels really good to do it again. Really good.
