I have to say the models have been giving me fits trying to come up with a forecast for this weekend. I hate going out on the limb in the summertime because storms can be life threatening and I never want anyone caught off guard so I usually error on the side of caution. In the winter time you probably have noticed I go out on an island much more. The situations do not deteriorate near as rapidly in winter so I can adjust accordingly during the rare instances I am wrong haha.. Anyway the atmosphere will be primed for heavy rain tonight through Saturday night with Saturday afternoon and night the atmosphere will be primed for severe weather. Here is where it gets tricky. The models are keeping the worst of the weather south of a quad cities to Kankakee to Rensselaer to Muncie line. So south of this line I have a high confidence in the possibility of some pretty dangerous weather possible Saturday evening and night. Now north of this line the atmosphere is going to be very unstable Saturday afternoon. So I think areas north of this line also need to be monitored tomorrow, ANy storms that do fire will expand rapidly without a moments notice. Back to tonight heavy downpours are the main threat with severe weather chances quite low. So to summarize pay attention to the forecasts and be aware of your surroundings tomorrow especially south of the Kankakee river. I am going to be busy with my last race for the summer so I will not be able to track the weather, but I will share the NWS status if possible. By the way next week will be much colder and I am actually going to be looking at some cold temp maps up by the Hudson bay in Canada. In a couple months snow will be returning to the arctic and the cold will start building again. Just thought I would leave you with that reminder as I start humming Christmas songs in my head as I start to get myself in the mood for the upcoming winter season.
