I have two Absolute Truths for you. 1. It is Wednesday. 2. I am livid. The idea that Joy in Jesus™ can save you from suicide is deceiving, insulting, and borderline self-righteous. Never have I seen any other illness or ailment treated in this way. I have recently seen many people, including and especially Matt Walsh, acting as if suicide is a symptom of weak faith or a failure to recognize all someone has been given. Now yes, I do believe in that prayer holds incredible power, and faith can work wonders. But are we going to say that a dude with a broken leg didnt try hard enough to piece it back together? Are you having a bad hair day because you didnt pray hard enough? Lets please stick to education about mental health, addiction, and suicide. Lets preach love and acceptance instead of alienating the depressed and suicidal further from confronting their illness. If anyone reading Matt Walshs blog feels judgment coming from the Christian community, are they going to walk into church or turn away? Suicide is an incredibly sensitive topic to myself and my friends, especially right now. Friends absorbing this article, please feel free to contact me personally to discuss. Friends fighting with any issues mentioned in this article, please feel free to contact me personally to discuss. Friends: call me. I love you.
