I have voted Liberal for over 40 years. I will never vote Labor. Labor has continually displayed poor leadership, poor financial management and a willingness to encourage a sense of entitlement across the middle and lower socio-economic demographic. Tony Abbott promised a government of no surprises. A government that says what it will do and do what it says. A government in contrast to the outgoing Labor party that would keep its promises not break them as per the infamous Gillard lie about “There will be no carbon tax under a government I lead”. Now it seems Abbott is breaking election promises left, right and centre under the tired old notion that “things are much worse than we ever imagined”. That is just the oldest trick in the book and it just does not fly. The Liberals just seem to be engaging in political fights with Labor, The Greens and the ratbag minorities, that they will never ever win. Sticking stubbornly to unpopular policies that will never get the support needed from the Senate. Admittedly it is a no-win situation with such a mish-mash of interests in the Senate, but FFS pick the battles you can win, ditch the others and press on! As Andrew Bold said recently, ignore the PUP - cut off their oxygen - press ahead with what you know will be supported by the others. I never thought I would say this but this government should forever be held up as an example of how not to run a country. As usual, we the taxpayers are the ultimate losers.
