I have watched several specials on the death of JFK over the past - TopicsExpress

I have watched several specials on the death of JFK over the past few days. I remember vividly where I was when the announcement was made. I was in my history class and one of my classmates started laughing, clapping and cheering at the news. He said that as a Republican he hated Kennedy and he was glad he was dead. I was devastated by his behavior. Over the next few days, I watched Walter Cronkite as he walked the nation through the terrible aftermath. He was the reason I decided I wanted to become a journalist. I loved the way he ensured that his information was accurate and he reported it with assurance and poise. However, since that time we have lost our integrity, kindness and soul somewhere along the way. What we have today is less journalistic and more sensationalistic. Each one of us has become an instant reporter spewing out personal information that will live forever on the internet. Our anger with others, our hatred of life styles and beliefs. Our condemnation of others because they dont share our ideals or opinions. We have pseudo celebrities who feed us half truths or outright lies in order to make popularity poles. We have internet, television and publications that love to write scandalous trash that shares very little with truth. How sad, how truly sad. We live in a world of Cliff Notes instead of novels.
