I havent been able to talk about it until today, but Bella was hit - TopicsExpress

I havent been able to talk about it until today, but Bella was hit and run over by a truck Monday morning in front of my mamas house at 212 Third Street. It was my fault because I never let her cross the street without going with her and making sure that no cars are coming. I parked my truck in front of mamas and had Izzy on a lead and was carrying a 30 lb bag of bird seed to the porch. I thought she was behind me but she crossed the street to potty. A truck went up the hill and I turned to put the food on the porch and go back and get Bella when the truck came back down the hill. I heard the awful thump and knew she had been hit.....I couldnt see her because my truck was in the way. I started hollering STOP....YOUVE HIT MY DOG, but the truck kept moving. When it came past my truck, I could see Bella underneath it. I kept hollering and running toward the street but the truck didnt stop and then the back drivers tire rolled over her. I cant get the image out of my head! Amazingly, she jumped up and ran toward me. I took her in mamas and could see some bleeding but she was still able to walk. I took her to Dr. Emilys and she said that nothing was broken, she didnt hear or feel anything that sounded wrong inside and the cuts were superficial but she kept her Monday for observation. Dr. Emily said if she had been taller, thinner or the truck had rolled over a different part of her (she was on her side and the truck rolled right over the middle of her), the outcome would probably have not been as good. She was really hurting and limping Monday when I brought her home, so I decided to sleep at mamas and watch her during the night. I was up most of the night praying and feeding her ice because she couldnt get comfortable, but when I got up to take Izzy out about 7 she walked to the door and went outside to do her business with hardly a limp. Truly a miracle she wasnt hurt badly or killed! I blame myself and will never again let her out of my sight when were outside but I wish the truck had at least stopped to see if he could help.
