I havent been staying current with Neil DeGrasse Tysons Cosmos - TopicsExpress

I havent been staying current with Neil DeGrasse Tysons Cosmos series lately...but my daughter Annika had no homework last night and wanted to watch something. So, Lisa, Annika, and I sat down to watch the season finale, and Im glad we did. Annika was fascinated, and in her way, gets it. Ive shown her plenty of science and particularly, space-based science specials (there was a great one about a hypothetical dramatization about a future manned solar-system mission that the BBC did that she particularly enjoyed), but Im glad I showed her this, if only so she could hear the segment with Sagans original voice-over (Im glad the producers made that wise choice) of the exquisite piece of prose called Pale Blue Dot. Now, as you all probably know by now, Im not religious, dont believe in a God (at least any traditional kind of God), but to me, this is the most meaningful, and beautiful, prayer Ive ever had the good fortune of hearing. I remember being deeply moved and awestruck by it when I first saw and read Sagans masterpiece in 1980 at the age of 10, and it was great to share it with my own 8-year old last night. Now, I want her to experience the whole series, both in Tysons presentation, and in Sagans unsurpassed original. I share it here now, because if youve never seen or heard this, you really should. Its so deep and deeply moving. https://youtube/watch?v=p86BPM1GV8M -with Lisa Meyerson
