I havent been vocal about my decision to labor without medication AT ALL because I know every body, baby and delivery experience is different and perfect however it happens, but I heard this today and it is so poignant I had to share. women are SO cautious for 10 months about what they put in their body. you dont drink, you dont take mild pain medications for anything, you dont take medicine for colds, you dont eat sushi on the chance it has bacteria because you dont want to use medicine to treat an infection... so why does that all get thrown out the window when its time to deliver? we introduce a cocktail of medicines that our babies still have access to without even thinking about it. honestly this never crossed my mind before, but is definitely food for thought.
