I havent bought a single present...The flu...the day Christmas fell on in the week and the number of weeks in the month...along with some other things, sort of threw that behind this year... This is pretty close to a Hard Candy Christmas, for us... Presents will come after the fact in the form of a Girls Day Out - Shopping excursion... Today, will pick up little tokens so there is something to open Christmas Day... and figure out how to get presents to Florida by tomorrow without selling my soul.... Lately, there have been posts circulating on social media...about the validity of Christmas...its customs...with dates, scriptural reference, technicalities...etc...Seeming to want to annihilate it, like many other JOYS weve carried through the generations, now gone...and here is what I have to say...The fact: that after 2000 years, we STILL take a single day to honor our God...No MATTER the commercialization or profit in it...No matter if its roots are not of the faith and instruction..deemed by the pompous to be of Gods good pleasure..and according to HIS will, how we worship Him...(like they KNOW that...Gods will)... is a MIRACLE...That for that ONE DAY...mankind opens its heart...even if it isnt ALL OF US...and emulates Christ...GIVES..of them selves...of their time...out of their pockets...is AMAZING...even if it ISNT on the RIGHT DAY of the year..not SCIENTIFICALLY or HISTORICALLY accurate..That FAMILIES, even those who may be at odds, come together..and LOVE one another...EXPRESS that love...and BOND...even for a moment in our BUSY, BUSY chaotic and increasingly hard hearted world... That we CELEBRATE...our blessings and good fortune...Remember those who might not BE so fortunate...That we lift our glass to LIFE and SALVATION...WEEP, as our hearts ache for those we CANT see because they are far away...and we remember those who have passed away, with sadness and tenderness... We take this ONE DAY, even if through the rest of the year we dont think about it much, to remember God..and SOME even attend church for the only day they see its doors...So...It really doesnt MATTER if its PERFECTLY done...Does it???... and I, for one...REFUSE to allow some holier than thou faction of opinion to STEAL Christmas from me...or the rest of us... God will either correct me, when I meet Him face to face...or PRAISE me for honoring Him...either way, I am forgiven and covered by His GRACE... IMHO...we should honor God and celebrate Him EVERYDAY...just like we do on this designated HOLY DAY... and holiday practiced by those who share our faith all over the planet... I have to tell you...In SPITE of the things that have altered our plans this year...We are STILL... SO ..AMAZINGLY... blessed!!!! I Thank GOD every moment for things like a roof and a BED!!! Heat and water...HOT WATER (I have said this before and I really DO thank God every time I stand beneath the shower!!! Seriously!!! You cant truly appreciate that unless youve had the pleasure of having no hot water and taking a COLD shower...Especially in the winter.. LOL) Weve got GREAT friends...Who are such GOOD PEOPLE!!! REALLY good, kind... loving folks...(They always amaze me!!!) ...And...FAMILY, who we love even if we dont talk often enough...We continue to have...Our health...well...this year, an immune system to fight off flu bugs..from which well recover...We have Food to eat...including a pretty decent Christmas Day dinner, planned...Have enjoyed a celebration or two...a clean house...and coats...blankets...AWESOME fur-babies!!! COFFEE!!!! Decorations to lighten up our spirit...MUSIC!!! and LIFE...ALL from GOD, whom we pause to celebrate and MINDFULLY consider...this time of the year...And so...THIS IS CHRISTMAS!!! Wishing all my friends and family out there continued blessings, now and throughout the coming year....
