I havent posted here in a while, but I really wanted to ask what you all might think of my horse in this picture. I believe Ive posted it before, but not with the same purpose! This is Malachi, my 8y/o Iberian x Percheron otherwise thought to be the modern recreation of the old Norman horse. Hes a very special guy for many reasons, but Ive really been wondering about his incredible flexibility. I havent personally met any horses that can lay with their forelegs straight out like he does. Its a part of his daily routine after he wakes up from his afternoon nap in the sun and hell hold the position for as long as he wants. Malachi has a lot of other interesting poses up his sleeve too. He can also lift his foreleg as high as his own eye if he wants to when hes playing around in the pasture, sometimes hell even hold it up there! I read on Dr. Deb Bennetts forum a while ago that it was rare for a horse to be as flexible as he is. It seems even more odd since he has an influential amount of draft, which gives him some extra bulk. Id like to know what you all think about this, since I never really hear much about flexibility ranges and what they might mean. Maybe some of you have pictures to share?
