I havent posted much for a while and for that I apologize - the truth is I have been terribly bothered by not only the tragedies and madness occurring around the world, but as of late I am deeply sorrowed by the state of this country and the actions of law enforcement that continue to grow more militarized, more brutal and more unjust. I was raised with an entirely different perception of what makes the USA special and over the years I have come to the realization that it is all a facade and I have watched as those who are here to protect and serve the people of this country turn against their own. Clearly the only protecting and serving they are doing are in the better interest of the establishment. And yet, regardless of it all, I still witness a country divided on a sickening scale. I have seen so much racism and hatred spewed from the mouths of the very people who are just as oppressed as those whose lives have been taken and yet they are clueless to this fact. When will enough be enough? When will the American people take a stand? I have yet to see any evidence that supports the continued modern day claims that this is the land of the brave. Where are you? Why do we allow this? How much more evidence and tragedy do we need before we as a people put an end to this and the many other injustices that our countrys officials are guilty of and carry out in our name? Are we all too meek and domesticated at the hand of the state to stand for what is right? I hope that is not the case. The people of this country need to rise up now more than ever. The time for empty talk, politics and rhetoric is long over. We need action. We need to stop allowing ourselves to be the property of the state. The last I checked, the state works for us. But alas, we live in 21st century America - welcome to the plantation. Were all slaves now. The video below is a cellphone video of a shooting that occurred on Tuesday August 19th, 2014 just miles from Ferguson, Missouri. His name is Kajieme Powell. He was 25 years old. My thoughts go out to his family and friends and to the many victims of the unjustified use of police force.
