I havent seen all the Oscar best picture nominees yet, but its going to take one whale of a movie to convince me Boyhood shouldnt win. For no other reason, but the simple fact this film was a risk. The thought of building a film over a twelve year span is mind boggling. So many things could have gone wrong. It takes visionaries Like Linklater and Hawke to pull of such a landmark in movie making. The audience watches in real time, as this family lives their lives over a decade plus. No make up or special effects needed to show the characters aging, instead these actors all age right there on the screen.I love the way the editing seems non- existent. The runtime is near three hours, which would have been butchered down to and hour and change, if the corporate run studio heads had got there commerce greedy paws on it. In stark contrast, Boyhood is art. The directors vision was not watered down for brain dead Friday night popcorn millennials to understand. Patricia Arquette was raw and dynamic, this was the best performance of her career. She will bring home the bronze without a doubt.
