I hear Idaho By Isaac Timm 1. Dustin Sometimes I wake up on a Sunday morning and hear Idaho. Young men whispering reverently as they pass my window on their way to church and I remember a fervent prayer from a young man who places my wife under water, the glowing nimbus of baptism and as he raises her he grasps her hand, breaking the bonds of water pulling her heavenward. 2. Jessica I see her smile, that secret smile, noted by J.M. Barry that hides a secret next to a woman’s cheek when she finds a metaphor that amuses her, or when her twin takes the stand to read. 3. Josh I see his Idaho in tripping meter that reads its sky, the notes in the prairie grass, the out-bending curve of the Snake River that reflect hieroglyphic storm clouds. See him holding a young women explaining why the stars huddle in the cold galaxy, as the car engine under them ticks its last heat into their bodies. 4. Star Idaho dances across The quad on her laughter as she floats down the sidewalk like a leaf of dress and flowery wrap and hers steps slows as I approach, and she gives me her attention as if I’d asked her to dance, and tells me it’s a beautiful morning, and I believe at that moment she just make it so.
