I hear Wole Soyinka metaphorizes President Jonathan as Nebuchadnezzar and got fellows chewing fodder telling us how a man who does not believe in the Bible shouldnt be qouting from the Bible. Arseholeric folks roam the social media -like every where else- but o boy are they this numerous! How does the Bible appropriate the character of Nebuchadnezzar to the level of excluding the non-Christian from using his name to characterize another person? First, is Nebuchadnezzar not a historical character? When did the name become a trademark to be used by permission or strictly among a select sect? Was his existence -even in the light used by Soyinka -only reported in the Bible and in no secular texts? Even if that is so did the same Bible these twisted minds now run to snatch from the hands of Soyinka -because hes an atheist to them- not lend itself to citation by Satan himself? This is how fanatics and fundamentalists of the likes of the Islamic State, Al Shabaab and Boko Haram are fashioned. They start with such seemingly harmless claims as this and blossom into full fledged murderers fighting for gods and the words of gods. If not for the sympathy one has for some of them for confessing such galactic lacuna in comprehension of simple history one would have asked them to Depart from me ye workers of iniquity. But then a fellow who does not know and confesses he does not know -even inadvertently- is not mocked nor sent off least he goes to spread what little learning he has with scandalous misinterpretations. So if you have any of such on your Timeline please do well to draw them close and school em properly. But in the name of Darius the Achaemenid dont fail to remind them first that such arseholery is unforgivable in the age of Google, Wikipedia and the entire World Wide Web.
