I hear the #IowaHawkeyes football team lost yesterday. My FB feeds burning up with disappointed commentary, some calling for the firing of head coach #KirkFerentz. I dont follow sports, but I do follow how Iowa taxpayers money is disproportionally spent on frivolous entertainment vs. social services, such as healthcare for children. But these guys work for the people of Iowa and if they arent earning their keep a reassessment is in order. I know the coaches and players are quite supportive of the UI Childrens Hospital. And, maybe because Im not a big sports fan I wont ever understand justifying this kind of expenditure. Lets be reasonable about it though. Will this solve all the problems? No, of course not. But change starts with you. Wanna make the new year bright? Take to the streets, internet, phone...whatever...and demand it. Dont sit back and watch the game. This is the game. This is your life. Your community.
