I heard today that America mourns the loss of Paul Walker, star of the most successful movie franchise in history. Really? The Fast and Furious movies are the most successful in HISTORY? Can that be right??? Well, the seven films have netted about $2.4 billion in ticket sales since 2001. Not too shabby. However, only one of the movies (#6 oddly enough) even ranks in the Top 50 worldwide. One movie (Avatar) knocks them all out at about $2.8 trillion. That was ONE movie! Star Wars and Harry Potter both have raked in a lot more cash. Who can forget Star Wars??? If you adjust for inflation the James Bond movies blow even them both out of the water! Not sure where theyre coming up with their figures. (And Paul Walker wasnt even in all 7 of the movies) I think it may be the biggest franchise for that STUDIO maybe. Im not trying to talk ill of the dead or anything but when I think of hollywood celebrities and successful movies... neither Paul Walker or Fast and Furious comes right to mind. Put it in perspective a little people...
