I hereby call on all our National and State Assembly members to conduct this type of tour. Dont bloody tell me that I am supporting him for anything. In just want the right things done. SENATOR OKOWA LEADS TOUR OF PROJECT SITES IN DELTA NORTH . A team of stakeholders, indigenes of various communities in Delta North and journalists recently went on a tour of projects facilitated by Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, who represents the District at the Senate. The projects, which include roads, bridges, drainage channels, water schemes and solar powered street lights, are scattered in the nine Local Government Areas (LGAs) that make up Delta North Senatorial District. Tagged “Effective Representation Tour,” the tour took the team to the various project sites across the zone. The first port of call was Ebu-Otor highway and bridge linking Delta and Edo states, which is located in Oshimili South LGAs, and which had been abandoned for several years. Also inspected in the same Oshimili South was the ongoing construction work on internal roads at Umuada Layout in Asaba, which is being constructed by Cromwell Technologies Limited, where members of the team were told by the site engineer, Anatole Osuji, that the first phase of the project would be completed before the rains set in. The team also visited the ultra-modern orthopaedic and general surgical ward complex at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Asaba under construction. Then it moved on to Ndokwa area to inspect the Ibrede Water Scheme and the Okotoro Road and adjoining streets drainage projects. Some indigenes of Ibrede which included Messrs Mathew Edekpobi and Vote Cletus expressed appreciation to Senator Okowa for attracting the project. They noted that the drainage would finally solve the flood problem the area experiences every year. They also praised the contractor for the quality of job being done. At Ogume, an elated indigene of the community, Comrade Ossai Friday, lauded Senator Okowa for the street light provided for the community and solicited the lawmaker’s assistance in providing water for the people of the area. The same commendation was given at Ugiliama in Ndokwa West by one Peter Enebeli, a business centre operator who said that the street light along Utagba-Uno/Ugiliama and Ogume/Abbi roads had increased socio-economic activities in the area especially at night. He said Senator Okowa has proved himself a good representative of the people of Delta North in line with his campaign promise to give effective representation. Utagba-Uno, another community in Ndokwa West, is also a beneficiary of solar powered street light. Some Okada riders who were interviewed said the people of the area were appreciative of the gesture but solicited for more projects especially water. When the team arrived at Etua-Etiti and Etua-Oliogo to inspect the water scheme sited in both communities, visibly happy indigenes were seen fetching water from the boreholes. At Ejeme-Aniogor, the team was informed that the water project had been completed but was yet to start serving the people as the solar power engine had not been installed by the contractor. The community pleaded that Senator Okowa should help talk to the contractor to expedite action so the people of the community could start enjoying what they termed ‘the dividends of Okowa’s good representation.’ Monday Okoboshi affirmed that, with the numerous ongoing and completed projects executed and facilitated by Senator Okowa, he was making the people of Delta North feel reasonable positive impact of government. The construction of Idumeze-Aja-Odua Road at Ute-Okpu, road drains in the premises of General Hospital, Owa-Alero and erosion control and pavement of Obiazikwor/Ohue streets and drainage in Ika North East Local Government Area, were at different advanced stages of completion. Fielding questions from journalists after a guided inspection, the site engineer in charge of the Obiazikwor/Ohue drainage work, Chris Udobi, explained that, due to the volume of water that passes through the area, extra effort was being put into the job to ensure it withstands the pressure. He said that at the pace they were going, the project might be completed within one month as the raining season is fast approaching. He said the job posed a lot of challenges because of the topography of the area but added that out of consideration they had to go beyond specification to add stone base to make the drainage more solid. At the Idumuoza/Alihagu Road project site in Ika South LGA, the effective representation tour team was informed that since January this year when the contractor handling the project came to expand and grade the road they have not been seen again. They expressed worry over the development as the raining season is imminent. They however pleaded with the senator to prevail on the contractor handling the job to return to site, even as they praised him for his proactive disposition in the Senate. Other project sites visited included Ute-Ogbeje, Obomkpa and Agbor-Nta, where solar powered street lights have been installed. At Agbor-Nta, Messrs Sunday Obiazi, Felix Alika, Lucky Ogwu and Saturday Obiazi all appreciated the installation of the solar powered street light in their community and commended Senator Okowa for the effort. Addressing journalists, after the tour, Director of Information, Senator Okowa Constituency Office, Asaba, Eugene Uzum, said the projects were part of the promise made by Senator Okowa to bring dividends of democracy to the people of Delta North. He said the lawmaker would continue to do more, even as he urged the people of Delta North to continue to support him. He lauded Okowa for his proactive role in the Senate, saying he is making Anioma proud
