I hope my Facebook friends will join me Nov. 5 in DC at the Washington National Monument 9am-9pm for The Million Mask March. This is a world event with over 400 locations to affirm peace, justice, privacy, democracy, transparency and freedom. See: MillionMaskMarch.org. I’ve been assisting with preparations for the program, which includes music, dance and open mic. Also, Ill speak about how revelations in my new book, Presidential Puppetry: Obama, Romney and Their Masters, can help us achieve widely shared goals of reform. KEY: “Knowledge Empowers You” (youtube/watch?v=4KV8Mt2nV_A) is my theme to curtail abuses by the CIA/NSA surveillance state as well as Wall Street efforts to impose harsh and needless austerity on the public. As momentum builds for this big event, a rogue group has peeled away and is using confrontational rhetoric to argue that the crowd should march to Lafayette Park to “arrest” and detain President Obama, Congress and U.S. Supreme Court justices on criminal charges. These zealots are using violent imagery such as a “USA Hitman” theme to threaten such actions (usahitman/mtapacn513/). Excessive rhetoric and violent actions lead to more surveillance and police state reprisals. Puppetry documents this history, including how the CIA funded the 1960s Communist Daily Worker as well as some important leaders of the “radical” group Students for a Democratic Society (SDS). The goal was to influence events and at least some leaders on all parts of the political spectrum. Further, this faction planning confrontations Nov. 5, for whatever motive, has falsely accused those who disagree with their tactics (including me and members of my non-partisan Justice Integrity Project board) of being CIA or FBI assets. This shows how those with track records of seeking justice and transparency can be targeted with preposterous and divisive claims. The evidence is being associated with those seeking required permits for a protest, or wanting to avoid silly and dangerous symbolic clashes with authorities. I have seen such disruptions many times. I covered the 1968 National Democratic Talk Radio Convention as a student journalist for the Cornell Daily Sun, for example. I earned my first professional newspaper dollars (very few!) covering the 1969 creation of the violent SDS Weatherman faction as a stringer for the Chicago Tribune and its rival Chicago Daily News. Another main target for such vicious and stupid commentary has been my friend Christine Ann Sands, who obtained the permit for the event and owns the Million Mask March domain names, as well as the Facebook site Facebook/MillionMaskMarch. Sometimes referred to as “WikiPoet,” she is one of the few visible faces of Anonymous: a leaderless anti-political corruption movement. Media interviewers, therefore, are seeking her out. Sands calls for the peaceful pursuit of justice and not so-called citizen arrests. “Corruption is lawlessness, and laws created against the spirit of love are also a form of lawlessness,” she says -- while also insisting “You don’t fight lawlessness with more lawlessness and chaos. You defend humanity with truth.” I support only peaceful, non-confrontational protests. I urge you to join others of like-mind to show up in numbers that marginalize divisive measures -- which turn off the general public from reform goals. Be part of history yourself on Nov. 5, either in Washington or in one of the 400 locations worldwide. It promises to be entertaining and inspirationally educational. Remaining at the Washington Monument instead of marching to Lafayette Park will help ensure safety for all those not wanting to undertake such divisive, lawless, and potentially dangerous efforts as trying to “arrest” public officials -- most of whom rank in power far below the real decision-makers in our society. Stand up for privacy, peace, democracy and justice -- on the sunny side of the street! See you there !!
