I hope you enjoyed the snow, which was a nice break from our usual winter routine. City Council members concluded the yearly planning retreat after two days of positive discussions. One of the best activities was imagining Greenville of the future, an activity allowing us to dream big. As a Council and community, we share many goals and the planning retreat allowed us to set aside our day-to-day responsibilities and develop a shared vision. City Council meets twice this week. At 6 p.m. today, we will hear reports from the Board of Adjustment and the Human Relations Council. We will also hear a presentation on the final report of the university-area overlay panel. We will review the City’s contract with Uptown Greenville. You may find a link to the Monday meeting agenda here - greenvillenc.gov/uploadedFiles/Departments/Mayor_and_City_Council/Information/City_Council_Agendas/February%2010%202014%20Agenda.pdf At 7 p.m. Thursday, we will consider a zoning change on Brownlea Drive near 10th Street. The zoning request would change the property from an R9, a medium-density residential zoning, to R6, a high-density residential zoning. We will also consider a new ordinance regulating storage and display of outside tires. In addition, we will discuss the recent snow storm and the City’s response to it.
