I hope youths from the Niger Delta area will dissipate the same energy in stoning their leaders the same way they stoned some northern Governors in Port Harcout yesterday. I hope they know that the biggest threat to development they have is not from the north but from their own leaders who use them as negociating tools to steal and loot the nation‘s resources. I hope they are wise enough to ask why years after the NNDC and ministry of Niger Delta was created the development in the area is nowhere commensurate with the huge amount of resources poured into the area. I hope they can question the rationale behind most of their local chiefs living in opulence with ships and yatches while the ordinary man on the street is faced with acute hardship. I hope they can question why most of them that took up arms, slept in the creeks and shed blood had their names shortchanged with names of children of the elites when the amnesty lists came out. I hope they ask their millitant leaders why many years after the amnesty the region is still suffering degradation and poverty while their “Generals“ are now multi billionaires in Abuja with juicy houses and cars. I hope they will not be foolish enough to repeat the same mistakes of the past? I hope.....
