I hypothesize that unless we are exposed to various schools of maths and various schools of music, before the Big Synaptic Pruning at 5-7 years of age, we will quite literally miss the window of opportunity, lose the hardware, for any possible genius in specific areas. They are all languages. Those introduced before 5 years of age to the sounds and rhythm of music, would retain hundreds of thousands of synapses which other kids would lose for those tones and beats, as with language, and as it must be, I propose, with math functions. After that, one will never be able to, with another language perform like a native, calculate like a natural, or speak a new language without an accent. I do not think its fair to put a child too young at a desk, and certainly not all day at any age. Hearing, attempting the sounds, is all that should be needed. Vocabulary we can learn at any age. Grammar, intonations, and maths underlying logic, we must learn by age five, at play. Not abstract, written math, but logic puzzles we use to determine/develop intelligence -- as in crows, for example. Nor music theory, but hands on play with musical instruments, and listening to live & recorded performances, and dance. As with languages: immersion. Why would we ever try to evolve our species intelligence by any means other than synaptic preservation at pruning time? We dont use it,so we lose it, and then we try to get genius back again. Better just not to lose it.
