I joined my NDP colleagues May 8th in Committee of the Whole to question Hon. Minister Raitt on spending estimates for transport. My questions focused on concerns with the flatlining of spending for rail safety despite major rail incidents and forecasted substantial cuts over next few years to environmental stewardship. I also inquired why the Minister has not required environmental assessment and open public review of the 1000 fold increase in rail shipping and 24 hour rail terminals for oil and bitumen.
