I just arrived home from the vet. Thank you Trish and Mike for hauling Coal in to Moores for us. Sadly it doesnt look like Coal will make it. I spoke with the vet once I got home and Coal is starting to experience distress again and is becoming shocky. Surgery is not an option, both because of cost and because I am sure Coal has other underlying issues that are at work. In addition to his gas colic, which has displaced his colon, he also seems to have some blockage when they tried to tube him, which is indicative of either choke, or so much pressure from his distended abdomen. I have given permission for Coal to be euthanized if there is no hope of recovery and if it comes to that they will be doing a necropsy to find out what was going on inside. So sorry Coal that we couldnt help you. You are such a sweet, sweet little horse.
