I just blocked an old friend on here. ...over several instances of posting grisly spatter and torture photos. Now, Im not squeamish; reality has placed me in closed interaction with just about every troubling thing that high speed collision, sharp blades, moving freight trains, and concentrated violence can do to a human body. ...and I think theres real value in jarring, truthful imagery...for example, reminding Americans what the intersection of a child and missile strike actually *means*. But something in the posting of auto-wreck injuries, etc, directly into the public timelines, where you dont really have an unsee option, strikes me a little wrong. It goes, kitten video, Viagra ad, short political rant, human limbs reduced to twitching hamburger, kitten video. Im already a member of the bone and brains club; I dont need to be re-initiated via social media. Others thoughts?
