I just called the Rural Fire Service headquarters in Sydney and urge everyone to do the same. 1800 679737 Please be courteous. The fellow I spoke to was very patient and helpful and recorded my complaint to pass it on to higher authorities. I said that I thought it improper and divisive of our community for the RFS to allow their facilities to be used by police against the interests of protectors at Bentley. Apparently the local fire service depot is to be used as a police command post. It is bad enough that the police service is betraying their real duty to protect the community and are working for the interest of a private polluting company against the wishes and safety of our community. I told the RFS that many of their members I have spoken to will resign as RFS volunteers and that I would never contribute any funds again if they went ahead with this betrayal. My complaint was graciously received and my number taken for any possible call back. This is our community. We are a democracy and the vast majority of us have expressed our intention that we do not want gasfields here. Police and RFS should respect our wishes if they consider themselves part of our community.
