I just did something that I think all of us should do. Last week I had a chat with my insurance agent about how my instruments were covered. The answer was that they are covered on my home owners policy. For us that arbitraty amount they assigned for contents is $213 K. 10% of the value of the contents in our home owners policy is covered in case I have a car load of instruments and then I get rear ended, have them stolen or have a car fire. He really couldnt answer as to what would happen if I was at a music camp and they got stolen out of a tent. He said there would certainly be an investivation. I have since made an inventory of my instruments and then went room to room in our house and made a video of the contents. That video took all of 15 minutes to make but all you have to do is upload it to the cloud and if you ever need it, it would be so valuable. This doesnt just go for musicians. I think we should all take a few minutes to shoot a video. And, by the way, my animals are priceless. Some things could never be replaced. Grab them first!
